The move was announced just days before the Galaxy Unpacked event taking place next week. Accordingly, Amazon Music will become one of the pre-installed applications on Galaxy devices, alongside familiar names such as Facebook, Instagram, OneDrive, LinkedIn and Spotify.
To encourage users to experience the service, Samsung and Amazon cooperate to implement a program to give away 3 months of free Amazon Music Unlimited use.
However, adding an additional pre-installed application may make many users feel annoyed. In fact, with Apple, iPhones are not pre-installed with third-party applications immediately upon shipment, while the list of pre-installed applications on Galaxy phones is getting longer and longer.
The positive point is that most applications can be uninstalled after setting up the device. However, some applications such as Facebook only allow disabling instead of completely deleting, meaning that part of the data and components of the application still exist on the device.
The new move shows that Samsung is continuing to expand its cooperation ecosystem with digital service partners. However, the increase in the number of pre-installed applications also means that users will have to spend more time removing or disabling applications that are not needed.
