After 4 years of launch, Samsung has stopped providing monthly security updates for the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra series.
According to the latest information on the company's Security Update Coverage page, these devices have been downgraded from a monthly update schedule to once every 3 months. This means that in the near future, the Galaxy S21 series will only receive 4 updates per year.
This reduction in update frequency is in line with Samsung's policy, as older devices will receive fewer updates. According to the commitment, Samsung will provide 4 years of operating system (OS) updates and 5 years of security updates for the Galaxy S21 series.
This means that these devices will most likely receive the Android 15-based One UI 7 update, but this will be the last major OS update.
Meanwhile, security updates are expected to continue until around January or February 2026.
Notably, starting with the Galaxy S24 series launched last year, Samsung has increased the support period for its Android flagships to up to 7 years of operating system and security updates.
