The S25 Edge, which can be pre-ordered for $1,099 and will be available in the US on May 30, features a 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X screen and two rear cameras in a thinner and lighter body than Samsung and Apple's existing phones.
According to Samsung, the S25 Edge is 5.8mm (0.22 inches) thick. Apple's iPhone Pro and Pro Max are both 0.32 inches thick, while Samsung's S25+ and S25 Ultra are 0.28 and 0.32 inches thick, respectively.
According to Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman, the iPhone Air will cut the iPhone frame by about 2mm, making it only 6.2mm thick, or 0.24 inches - slightly thicker than the S25 Edge.
Inside, the S25 Edge has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor as the remaining Galaxy S25 series. Users also have 12GB of RAM and optional storage capacity of 256GB or 512GB.
However, the S25 Edge has only two rear cameras, including a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 200MP main camera. Meanwhile, the company's S25+ and S25 Ultra, which have starting prices of 999 USD and 1,299 USD, both have three cameras, including a telephoto camera.
Samsung said the S25 Edge uses AI technology to provide "optical-like" 2x zoom capabilities on the 200MP main camera and 10x zoom capabilities. Super wide-angle cameras also have an automatic focus function, so you can take macro photos, such as detailed close-up photos of flowers.
Although the S25 Edge has a thin design, Samsung says it can still use the battery all day thanks to some cooling and powering solutions. The S25 Edge also comes with Samsung's Galaxy AI platform, which includes Samsung's AI agents and Now brief and Now Bar, providing AI-managed reminders, updated news and travel information.
Since the S25 Edge runs on Google's Android 15 software, it is powered by the company's Gemini services, including Gemini Live, which can provide information about what users are watching on screen or through the phone's camera.
hardware changes such as thinner phones, upgraded screens, or new cameras are often good ways to convince customers to upgrade their devices. But will that benefit Samsung?
