Comprehensive interface renovation
iOS 19 is expected to bring the biggest design overhaul since the iOS 7 era. The main goals include: Simpler, faster and easier to use. Apple wants to keep it familiar to users but at the same time create a new and more streamlined feel.
Applications with tabs can be enhanced with content, integrating additional search bars. Although not completely changed like the Photos app on iOS 18, the new interface will still bring significant improvements in both image and experience.
Integrating third-party AI
After launching Apple Intelligence last year, Apple has applied a "posterous" strategy: developing internal AI while integrating ChatGPT into Siri and drafting tools. With iOS 19, Apple is expected to expand this direction.
Google Gemini could be one of the new third-party AI models integrated by Apple, giving users more options and power beyond their own capabilities.
Stage Manager mode for external screens
The iPhone's performance is getting stronger, but iOS has not yet fully exploited that potential, especially when connected to an external screen. iOS 19 is rumored to add a Stage Manager-style multi- task interface when the iPhone connects to a separate screen, allowing multiple apps to open at the same time.
Although it is a seemingly "users-only" feature, it is meaningful in the context that iPadOS 19 is also about to upgrade Stage Manager and Apple is preparing for the foldable iPhone model expected to launch next year.
iOS 19 will launch at WWDC on June 9. In addition to the three features above, iOS 19 also promises to bring major upgrades to Siri, new improvements to AirPods and many other changes are being finalized.
