The leaked firmware version of One UI 8.5 shows that the Galaxy phone will have an AI notification summaries.
When turned on, the pop-up notification screen says, Long-term conversations can be summarized to help you quickly grasp the content. The test was discovered next to the WhatsApp notification.
In detailed settings, users can turn off this feature or select an application that is allowed to use AI to summarize. The settings page also confirmed that Samsung is using Google's AI model for this feature.
From leaked data, it can be seen that Samsung is likely to be adopting the same notification summarization technology that Google has tested on Android 16 for Pixel, with a scope limited to the messaging app. Notably, there have been rumors that Samsung will bring this feature to One UI 7, but it will not be until One UI 8.5 is the real launch.
Apple once added the same feature to iOS in the Apple Intelligence package, but had to temporarily stop some apps because there were too many incorrect summarizations. Google and Samsung seem to learn from experience, limiting the application of only text messages, thereby avoiding many risks.
One UI 8.5 is expected to launch with the Galaxy S26 early next year.
