The non-laked work by director Ham Tran earned over 200 billion VND on the afternoon of October 4, according to data from Box Office Vietnam.
During the weekends, the film's revenue increased sharply. Every day of the week, the film is always at the top. Before that, when it started release on September 19, the film quickly surpassed "Red Rain" when the work on the topic of war achieved the No. 1 revenue in Vietnamese box office history.
The film revolves around the attack of a group of pilots led by Long (Thai Hoa), along with accomplices including Ti (Vo Dien Gia Huy), Suu (Bao Dinh), Dan ( Ray Nguyen). They meticulously planned to rob a civil plane in order to escape abroad. Facing the danger, the flight crew bravely resisted the criminal group to ensure the safety of passengers.
The film is based on a real incident about the 1978 plane robbery in Da Nang, with the main setting in the plane cabin and cockpit. The battle of wits was tense, bringing many breathless situations to the audience.
Experts highly appreciate the script, production organization and acting of the cast.
This week at the Vietnamese box office, there are more competitors of "The War in the Air", which are psychological films "Sister Nga Em Nhan", "Tay Anh Bao Mot Sao".
If "Chi Nga Em nang" has a script about sisterhood in the family, the Vietnamese-Korean collaboration "Tay Anh Bao Mot Sao" is about love between couples.
In addition, Avatar: The Flow of Water also returned to Vietnamese theaters with a 3D format for only 1 week. This comeback of Avatar also has exclusive footage from Avatar: Fire and Ash opening up new mysteries about Sullys familys journey.
