On December 18, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group officially launched VNPT AI Company. This is considered a strategic step to focus resources on developing artificial intelligence, while bringing AI products "Make in VNPT" to participate more deeply in the domestic and international markets.
The launch of a company specializing in artificial intelligence marks an important shift of VNPT, from developing AI as a technology field to a centralized organizational model, towards commercialization and expansion of scale at the national and international levels.
According to VNPT, the establishment of VNPT AI takes place in the context of an increasingly perfect system of policies and legal corridors on artificial intelligence. Many major policies have been issued, including Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation development; Decision 127/QD-TTg on National Strategy on research, development and application of artificial intelligence to 2030; especially the Law on Artificial Intelligence recently passed by the National Assembly on December 10, 2025.
VNPT AI is built on a technology infrastructure platform that the group has invested in for many years. Currently, VNPT owns a large data infrastructure with a capacity of about 20 petabyte, the ability to process nearly 20 terabyte of data per day, along with a high-performance computing system of hundreds of petaflops and continues to be expanded. This is considered a key condition for developing large-scale AI models, serving national implementation problems.
In parallel with the infrastructure, VNPT AI brings together more than 200 experts, AI engineers and data scientists, trained at home and abroad, matured from practical problems in Vietnam. This force contributes to bringing VNPT's AI technology closer to international standards, while ensuring suitability with domestic conditions and demands.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - General Director of VNPT said that the establishment of VNPT AI demonstrates the group's determination to focus on AI capabilities, serving the transformation orientation according to the "Data Driven, AI-First" model.
VNPT AI must take the lead in researching and developing AI technologies; mastering scientific works and AI models with Vietnamese intelligence, thereby affirming the scientific and technological capacity of Vietnam in general and VNPT in particular.
Regarding product goals, VNPT AI needs to quickly create AI products with high technology content, strong practical application capabilities, such as AI exploiting data, AI virtual assistant, first of all widely deployed within VNPT itself, realizing the group's "AI First" strategy. VNPT will be the launching pad for VNPT AI to develop firmly in the domestic market and gradually reach out to the international market," said Mr. Huynh Quang Liem.
According to Mr. Liem, this step also contributes to ensuring digital sovereignty, reducing dependence on external technology platforms in key areas. Currently, VNPT has developed more than 100 specialized AI models, processing over 2 billion requests, serving about 40 million people, accompanying more than 200 businesses and many state agencies.
Taking on the task of General Director of VNPT AI Company, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong said that in the period of 2026-2027, VNPT AI will complete the comprehensive AI and GenAI ecosystem, both serving the group internally and providing products and services to domestic and foreign customers.
The focus is on bringing AI products "Make in VNPT" to the international market, first of all in the US, Japan, Korea and some other potential markets. VNPT AI also aims to become the No. 1 AI brand in Vietnam, playing a new driving force in the group's long-term development strategy.
