On January 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, GreenNode (AI Cloud unit of VNG) coordinated with NVIDIA and VAST Data to organize a workshop on improving the capacity of the financial industry through AI application. The event gathered more than 50 bank leaders to participate in the discussion, sponsored by the Vietnam Banking Association (VNBA)
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh - Head of the Representative Office of the Vietnam Banking Association in Ho Chi Minh City said: " applying AI in digital transformation is the key to helping banks create breakthroughs in the digital era. But this process requires long-term investment and a comprehensive strategy.
In recent years, as an extension of the State, the Vietnam Banking Association has accompanied members including banks, financial institutions and technology companies in ensuring compliance with legal regulations, while constantly adapting and applying new technologies to business operations.
One of the important steps in this process is the implementation of Project 06 on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030.
The project has become an important resource to help banks develop digital banking, improve the quality of electronic services, and promote the expansion of cashless payments.
According to Mr. Minh, by the end of 2024, Vietnam had recorded more than 2.2 million personal payment accounts with nearly 17 billion non-cash transactions. Many banks have achieved a rate of over 95% of transactions processed via digital platforms.
In addition, the application of advanced technology such as authentication via chip-embedded citizen identification cards, especially biometric authentication in banking transactions, has improved the level of safety and convenience for customers.
To date, more than 38 million accounts have been biometrically authenticated and 43.9 million customer records have been cleaned at the National Credit Information Center (CIC). The digitalization of civil status and land data is also being accelerated, with the goal of completing civil status data in March 2025 and land data in June 2025.
At the workshop, experts from GreenNode, VNG Cloud and TrueID shared many in-depth AI solutions, helping to upgrade banking and finance (BFSI) operations, optimize customer experience and create outstanding competitive advantages.

GreenNode has introduced integrated AI solutions, helping to completely solve the challenge of non-structural data, which accounts for 80% of the total data in banks.
Their Smart Document Processing (IDP) solution has helped banks effectively process more than 200 types of documents, reduce 70% of errors in data entry and 1/3 of staff working time, save more than 2,000 working days and tens of billions of VND per year.
In addition, in the context of increasingly tightening legal regulations on electronic identification, TrueID's Digital identity Platform (under GreenNode) integrates eKYC, KYC video, biometric authentication and NFC, which has also supported more than 35 banks to synchronize customer data.
The results recorded a 90% identification rate and 82% automatic approval, helping banks open accounts quickly and safely. At the same time, the centralized identification system plays an important role in the bank's digital ecosystem, helping to expand multi-channel identification services and authentication, both online and offline.
