Hanoi - The wastewater treatment plant of Viet Hung Urban Area (Viet Hung, Long Bien) has resumed operations after many years of "lying still".

On the afternoon of April 3, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen The Cong - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant has begun operating.

According to Mr. Cong, the Department of Construction has received the project handover from the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation (HUD) - the investor. However, during the handover process, HUD had to repair all degraded items. In addition, HUD must complete the discharge license (due to some changes in the Law on Environmental Protection).

"The investor has submitted documents in Long Bien district. Long Bien District has established a monitoring and evaluation council to issue a license according to its authority" - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Construction informed.

Currently, the contractor has also approached to work with the investor to operate the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant. Within 6 months, the authorities will monitor the quality to issue an environmental license. "Investors are still responsible until they have an environmental license" - Mr. Cong said.

According to the reporter's records on April 3, at the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant, workers have started working and operating the plant.

However, many items have not been repaired.

The management and operation of the Viet Hung Urban Water Treatment Station before handing over by the investor - HUD.

By May 2022, based on the request of HUD, the Department of Construction had organized a review and received the handover of the Viet Hung wastewater treatment plant.

In the process of completing the handover procedures to organize the selection of operational management contractors, according to the commitment to the city, HUD continues to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment station with the unit's funding source and overcome existence in the tallying process: Automatic monitoring machine system and equipment and chemicals of the laboratory, failure; steel station houses, some constructions of paint peeling; The overgrown weeds invaded the grass area; Expired discharge permit in January 2023.

The wastewater treatment plant of Viet Hung Urban Area (Long Bien District, Hanoi) started construction in 2014. In terms of scale, the Wastewater Treatment Station has a capacity of 7,600 m3/day and night, applying AO treatment technology (Anoxic - Oxic), after treatment, the wastewater is discharged into the Viet Hung ditch, then flowing into the Cau Bai River.
