The Wall Street Journal has reported that the iPhone 17 Air will cost less than the iPhone Pro models, contradicting long-standing rumors that the new ultra-thin iPhone will be expensive. With that information, the phone is more worth considering than ever.
In the report, The Wall Street Journal said: "Starting next year, Apple plans to launch an iPhone model that is significantly thinner than current models, which are about 8 millimeters thick, according to people familiar with the company's plans. It is designed to be cheaper than the Pro line, with a simpler camera system to keep costs down."
Initially, rumors suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would be more expensive than the iPhone Pro Max, meaning a starting price of at least $1,199 – possibly even as high as $1,299.
Such a price for a thinner iPhone with fewer features, limited battery life, and only one camera doesn’t seem worth the investment. Sure, the phone looks great and could pave the way for thinner iPhones in the future, but it’s not really worth buying.
There was even recent news that the iPhone 17 Air would lack a second speaker, relying solely on the earpiece for sound. With so many cutbacks, paying a premium price for this phone seems unreasonable.
However, if the new reports are accurate, users can now expect a cheaper model than the Pro line. The information predicts that the iPhone 17 Air will cost less than $ 1,000. If there is no price increase for the Pro line, the iPhone 17 Air could be as low as $ 899, similar to the current price of the iPhone 16 Plus.
