Information about a new super thin iPhone appears

Apple may be preparing for a major new generation of iPhone in 2025, the product predicted to be called iPhone 17 Air.

Some recent information says that Apple may have found a supplier to help create a super thin iPhone.

An article by authors Jay Liu and Levi Li in Digitimes said: Novatek - Taiwan's leading display driver IC manufacturer (China) has announced plans to start mass production of TDDI OLED technology in the second quarter of 2025.

While industry insiders remain tight-lipped about potential customers, there is speculation that Novatek’s delivery schedule could coincide with the release of the next-generation iPhone display in 2025. Because if the target is Chinese flagship models launching later this year or Samsung devices released in early 2026, there is no need to increase deliveries in the second quarter of 2025.

Apple may launch the iPhone 17 Air next year with an ultra-thin design, similar to the M4 iPad Pro models. According to Digitimes, the connection between Novatek and Apple is still just a rumor.

However, Novatek's production timing and the iPhone 17 Air's expected fall launch make perfect sense.

One of the benefits of TDDI OLED is that it allows for thinner displays, so it's a technology that's a perfect fit for the iPhone 17 Air.
