Apple will officially open the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2026) on June 8 at Apple Park, Cupertino, California, USA.
This is the company's most important annual event in the software field, where Apple is expected to introduce a new generation of operating systems along with notable advances in artificial intelligence (AI).
The biggest focus of this year's WWDC is said to be Apple's AI strategy. After competitors such as Google, Microsoft and OpenAI continuously promote generative AI products, Apple is expected to give a clearer answer through important upgrades for the Siri virtual assistant.
According to many sources, Siri may be upgraded to a smarter voice assistant, capable of natural interaction and deeper context understanding.
This system is also said to be closely integrated with AI features throughout the Apple ecosystem, helping users perform many complex tasks by voice.
Besides Siri, Apple is likely to announce iOS 27, the new operating system for iPhone. Although the company has not revealed details, observers expect iOS 27 to bring many new AI tools, smarter application interaction capabilities and improvements for Visual Intelligence, which is an artificial intelligence image analysis feature.
Not only the iPhone, a series of other Apple platforms are also expected to be upgraded at the same time. At WWDC 2026, the company may introduce macOS 27 for Mac, iPadOS 27 for iPad, watchOS 27 for Apple Watch and visionOS 27 for Vision Pro mixed reality glasses.
Many new AI features appearing on iPhone are expected to quickly expand to iPad and Mac. This is in line with the strategy of building a unified AI ecosystem, allowing users to have a seamless experience on all Apple devices.
For Apple Watch, watchOS 27 may add new watch faces along with interface changes. Meanwhile, visionOS 27 is said to focus on improving accessibility and enhancing the mixed reality experience on Vision Pro.
Unlike some previous WWDCs, this year's event is predicted to be almost only about software. Apple has launched many new devices since the beginning of the year, including MacBook Neo, iPhone 17e and Mac lines using M5 chips. Therefore, the possibility of a completely new hardware product appearing at WWDC is considered quite low.
WWDC 2026 is also of particular significance as this is considered to be CEO Tim Cook's last opening speech at this conference before he is expected to leave his leadership position at the end of the year. The person who is expected to succeed him is John Ternus, currently holding the leadership role in Apple's hardware engineering division.
The event takes place from June 8 to 12 with more than 100 discussion sessions for the developer community. The opening speech will begin at 10 am on June 8 US time, followed by the Platform State of the Union program, where Apple announces details of new technologies, platforms and development tools.
With a focus on AI and software, WWDC 2026 is expected to show how Apple competes in the increasingly heated artificial intelligence race globally.
