Social housing is still a concern for workers
Quang Ngai has more than 96,000 workers, of which more than 91,000 are trade union members, working day and night, making important contributions to the socio-economic development of the province.
With more than 7,000 operating businesses, the demand for cheap social housing for workers is very large.

Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Minh Tam - a worker working at Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company - shared: "With my current salary, I have to spend very sparingly to save a small amount. If renting a room, plus daily living and food expenses, it is almost impossible to accumulate. If there are cheap social housing for workers in Dung Quat Economic Zone, it will help workers have the opportunity to settle down and stabilize their lives.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ha Van Hung - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of HD Hyundai Eco Vina Co., Ltd. - said that currently, industrial parks and export processing zones in Quang Ngai are developing strongly, expanding in scale, attracting investment in factories and adding more industries. Therefore, the demand for labor recruitment of businesses is still very large. However, cultural institutions, kindergartens as well as social housing are essential needs but have not been met in time.
Quang Ngai has only nearly 400 social housing units put into use. From now to 2030, the province plans to build more than 1,000 social housing apartments each year.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nhan - Director of the Department of Construction - said that Quang Ngai province has licensed the implementation of 3 social housing projects with a total scale of more than 2,100 apartments.
The Trade Union Social Housing project in Tho Phong commune, invested by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, has a scale of about 603 apartments, with a total investment of more than 597 billion VND, expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2026.
The social housing project at Quang Ngai Trade Union Facilities in Tho Phong commune, invested by the Joint Venture of Saigon Thuan Phuoc Green Real Estate JSC and VJCO Group JSC, is also completing legal procedures to deploy construction with a scale of about 1,209 apartments. The project started on May 19, 2026.
Creating motivation to attract businesses to invest in social housing
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoang - Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee - said that the competent authorities of the province have approved a mechanism to support the implementation of social housing construction investment projects in the area.
Accordingly, the total estimated funding support to 2030 is nearly 315 billion VND, including compensation and site clearance support costs of nearly 235.4 billion VND; the remainder is infrastructure investment support costs. Specifically, the province supports 100% of compensation, support, and resettlement costs according to the plan approved by the agency or competent person.

At the same time, the province supports 70% of the cost of building technical infrastructure within the scope of social housing projects according to the detailed plan approved by competent authorities (excluding the cost of investing in building technical infrastructure inside the building; the cost of investing in building technical infrastructure in the area invested in construction for business or must be handed over to the State for management).
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoang, to contribute to completing the goal of developing social housing according to assigned targets, and at the same time create conditions for low-income people to access suitable housing, ensuring social security; contributing to balancing supply and demand, promoting the stable and healthy development of the real estate market, the promulgation of a mechanism to support project implementation is extremely necessary.
