Apple has just announced that it will hold the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 online from June 8 to 12.
This annual event will introduce a series of updates across the entire software ecosystem, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and new tools for developers.
According to the plan, in addition to online sessions, Apple will also invite a number of developers and students to attend directly at Apple Park on the opening day.
This continues to be an opportunity for the technology community to access the latest changes on iOS, macOS and other platforms of the company.
WWDC 2026 takes place in the context that Apple is under great pressure in the AI race. Over the past time, the company has encountered many obstacles, from delaying the upgrade of Siri assistants, changing senior personnel to the not-so-impressive launch of generative AI tools.
At recent WWDCs, Apple mainly focused on practical improvements, such as direct call translation, instead of making breakthrough progress in AI like competitors.
The company still maintains a cautious approach, emphasizing AI serving daily life needs, such as supporting the search for products similar to what users are interested in.
Besides AI, Apple is also looking to expand revenue from the service segment. The company may integrate advertising into the Map application in the near future. This model allows brands to auction positions displayed in search results, similar to how Google Maps is operating.
It is expected that advertising on Maps may be deployed in the summer, applied to iPhones, other devices and web platforms. If confirmed, this will be a noteworthy step in Apple's service growth strategy.
Currently, the company's service segment, including Apple Music, iCloud and software platforms, is recording record revenue of nearly 30 billion USD in the first quarter of 2026, in line with analysts' expectations. This shows that Apple is increasingly dependent on revenue outside of hardware.
WWDC 2026 is therefore expected not only to be a technology showcasing stage, but also an important milestone for Apple's AI and service strategy in the coming period.
