The latest report from market research company Omdia shows that the total number of desktop computers, laptops and workstations shipped in the fourth quarter of 2025 increased by 10.1% to 75 million units. This brought the total number of personal computers shipped in 2025 to 279.5 million units, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2024.
Leading the market is Lenovo with nearly 71 million PCs shipped in 2025, an increase of 14.4% compared to 2024. Behind them are HP (over 50 million), Dell (nearly 42 million), Apple (over 27 million) and Asus (over 20 million).
Although the PC (personal computer) market in 2025 is generally operating quite well, the supply of memory and storage has become scarce, and related price increase pressure has appeared since mid-year.
In December 2025, PC suppliers began signaling expectations of price increases. Along with the inability to ensure sufficient supply, this has reduced expectations of expected shipment volume for 2026.
“From the first to fourth quarter of 2025, the cost of memory and storage for popular PCs has increased from 40% to 70%, leading to increased costs being transferred to consumers,” said Ben Yeh, chief analyst at Omdia.
According to Omdia experts, in 2026, when the demand for equipment replacement has not completely decreased, pressure on supply will be clearer and supply will not fully meet market demand.
Therefore, business results and delivery capacity of major manufacturers such as Lenovo, Dell, HP, Apple, Asus... will depend heavily on the ability to work with partners to purchase memory.
The actual delivery performance will depend on whether suppliers purchase memory and storage as well as the ability to negotiate with component suppliers.
