Just last month, YouTube gave Android and iOS users the ability to adjust video speed. Now, this handy option is available on the web, too.
Have you ever wished you could speed up a YouTube video to the exact speed you want? While preset options are handy, they don't always cut it. Now, YouTube's new web feature lets you tweak the playback speed to your liking with a slider.
In the video player, go to Settings > Playback Speed and you'll see a new Customize option right at the top.
This new feature is designed similarly to Android and iOS, helping to synchronize the experience across all platforms. If you still like the default speeds, don't worry, options like 0.25x, 1.0x (normal), 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2.0x are still available for faster access.
Adding a playback speed slider to the web gives YouTube some much-needed flexibility. Whether you're learning a language, taking an online course, or simply adjusting the speed of your favorite videos, this feature is pretty handy.
In related news, YouTube Kids is getting a complete overhaul on mobile, with a fresher look and feel. The platform is also expanding its auto-dubbing feature to help more channels reach a global audience. And in another exciting development, YouTube recently launched an online gaming mode.
