YouTube has officially launched multiplayer gaming on Playables, starting with two popular games, Ludo Club and Magic Tiles 3.
The feature, which is being tested on both desktop and mobile, allows users to join games with friends or random users in real-time without a YouTube Premium subscription.
This is a notable step in YouTube's efforts to expand its ecosystem.
In Ludo Club, players can create private rooms to invite friends or play against other users from around the world. The game supports many basic interactive features such as sending emojis and pre-set messages, which enhances communication between players.
Magic Tiles 3's multiplayer feature isn't fully enabled yet, suggesting this is just the beginning of the improvements YouTube is making. The launch of Playables reflects YouTube's apparent strategy to compete with other platforms like Netflix, which has been offering integrated gaming services since 2023.
Unlike Netflix Games, users don't need to subscribe to a paid service to play games on Playables, increasing accessibility to more people.
In the future, YouTube plans to add more games with multiplayer modes and enhanced interactive features such as ranking systems, rewards, and online tournaments. This will not only create a rich gaming experience but also help strengthen the connection within the global user community.
