After many responses from the user community, YouTube Music has just officially added a long-awaited feature that automatically overlooked the silences in the podcast.
This is considered an important improvement, making the podcast listening experience more seamless and time-saving.
Previously, although YouTube Music replaced Google Podcasts, it was still complained of lacking many support tools, including the ability to "cut the stutter".
listeners often have to wait patiently when the show has long stops, causing the experience to be interrupted. This feature has been available on Google Podcasts since 2018, but it has only been included in YouTube Music since then.
According to findings from APK analysis in March 2024, Google has quietly tested the "Trim Silence" button. To date, this feature has been officially rolled out on the latest version of the YouTube Music app.
As the name suggests, "cutting the silent" allows users to automatically ignore un Contended passages in the podcast, allowing users to focus on the main conversation.
The use is also quite simple, when opening any podcast, just tap the playback speed icon (1x) in the lower left corner of the screen, then turn on the " silent cut" option. Immediately, the app will shorten listening time by removing silent sections, providing a more compact and continuous experience.
Currently, this feature is available on Android, applying to both free and Premium accounts. However, Google has not confirmed the release date on iOS, which means iPhone users will have to wait longer to experience it.
One more unclear point is whether the implementation will be through a software update or a server-side update.
With millions of users worldwide, the addition of "cutting the noise" not only helps YouTube Music catch up with other podcasting apps, but also demonstrates Google's efforts to perfect the online audio ecosystem.
This could be the first step for the platform to continue expanding and enhancing the user's listening experience.
