Ms. Fauziya Ansari, a nutritionist at Apollo Spectra Mumbai Hospital (India), said that many people have the habit of eating green chili every day or adding it to each meal to enhance the flavor of the dish. However, she warned that although green peppers are an important source of vitamins and antioxidants that support metabolism, excessive consumption can be harmful.
According to Ms. Ansari, the high capsaicin content in green peppers can irritate the stomach lining, leading to symptoms such as burning sensation, heartburn and even heartburn. People with sensitive stomachs or conditions such as acid reflux or stomach ulcers should avoid eating green peppers every day, as this can make their condition worse.
The spicy taste of chili can cause a burning sensation in the mouth and throat. Capsaicin in chili activates pain receptors in the digestive tract, making you feel hot when food passes through the stimulated areas.
Although many people believe that eating green chili helps improve skin, there is currently no scientific research proving a direct link between eating chili and skin health.
Dr. Ansari also notes that eating too much chili every day can increase digestion rate, but also cause problems such as diarrhea or cramps. Therefore, she recommends not eating green chili every day. If you like to eat chili, you should only eat one fruit at a meal and prioritize light green chili, as they are less spicy than red or dark chili.
Finally, Ms. Ansari emphasizes that to maintain good health, you need to eat a balanced diet and avoid foods that are too spicy for a long time.
