1. Drinks and fruit juices
Drinks high in sugar and fructose can promote the formation of uric acid in the body. Although not rich in purines, high levels of fructose can trigger some mechanisms that cause uric acid to increase rapidly, making the disease worse.
2. Bread and white rice
During gout, patients should limit refined starches such as white bread, pastries, white rice or cookies. These foods do not contain many purines or fructose, but have low nutritional value, which can contribute to increasing uric acid in the body.
3. Seafood
Crabs, shrimp, oysters and many other seafoods have high purine content, easily causing gout attacks. Therefore, this is a food group that patients need to pay special attention to limiting.
4. Processed foods
Snacks, frozen or processed foods are often not good for health, and can make gout worse if used regularly.
5. Animal organs and wild animal meat
Internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, and pancreas contain very high levels of purine. In addition, wild animal meats such as deer, rabbit or wild bird meat are also a large source of purine, not suitable for people with high uric acid.
Therefore, to control uric acid well, patients need to build a reasonable diet, limit foods that may increase uric acid and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
