Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang informed at a press conference on the afternoon of April 7, according to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka, on April 4, local police announced the discovery of a body believed to be a female Vietnamese citizen in a house in Yodogawa-ku district, Osaka, Japan. According to local police, forensic results showed that the victim was murdered at around 9am on April 3.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that immediately after receiving the information, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka discussed with local authorities and requested an urgent investigation to clarify the cause of the incident, and contacted the Vietnamese community in Osaka to find out more information.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang also said that the victim's body has been handed over to the family.
Deputy Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang noted that, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka is continuing to closely monitor the investigation process, taking measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens, closely coordinating with local and domestic authorities to support the funeral arrangements according to the wishes of the victim's family.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent its deepest condolences to the victim's family" - Ms. Hang said.
