Some Northern tourist destinations such as Ha Giang, Moc Chau... are locally overloaded due to the overwhelming number of visitors during the 2026 New Year holiday.

The 2026 New Year holiday lasts 4 days, many people choose to celebrate the New Year with their families and friends at famous tourist destinations in the country.

In the Northern region, Ha Giang, Moc Chau and Sa Pa are the centers attracting the most tourists thanks to the flower season and characteristic cold weather. The number of visitors flocking here is suddenly high, causing prolonged traffic congestion in many areas.

In Sa Pa, functional forces implemented a ban on cars with more than 16 seats entering the central area from 1 pm to reduce traffic pressure. However, the main roads leading to tourist attractions such as Cat Cat village, Ta Van... still record high vehicle density.

Meanwhile, in Ha Giang (Tuyen Quang), local traffic jams have occurred for the past few days.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, a local tour guide, said: "The areas with the most traffic congestion can be mentioned such as Tham Ma Pass, the road to Lung Cu, H'Mong Pa Vi Village, Quang Ba... In some places, traffic jams are kilometers long, vehicles move slowly or'stuck in place' for hours.

Mr. Hoan informed that from the afternoon of January 2nd, the weather in Ha Giang was drizzle, the temperature dropped sharply to 7-9 degrees Celsius, and the weather was freezing cold. The number of visitors still pouring in from everywhere is very large, causing not only travel, but also food and entertainment services to become overloaded, having to wait a long time. Some tourist attractions such as the Nho Que River, Lung Cu flagpole, and the long Tham Ma slope have had a significant impact on tourists' experiences.

Rooms in the area have also been fully booked since early morning. Mr. Hoan advised: "Tourists coming here on this occasion should book rooms in advance and bring warm clothes, towels, gloves, heat-retaining hats... to ensure health. In addition, you need to check in before 5 pm to ensure there are still rooms and avoid traffic jams in the late afternoon.
