Social networks are spreading many short videos recording the scene of male foreign tourists wearing traditional dresses of H'Mong women at tourist attractions in Ha Giang (old), now Tuyen Quang. These people even put dresses around their necks and danced.
The video quickly attracted the attention of social media users. Many people expressed their frustration when traditional costumes were worn for joking.
On August 6, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thu Hoai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang said that after receiving information about the incident, the unit coordinated with relevant agencies to review the roles and responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals to take corrective and handling measures.
According to Ms. Hoai, the unit's view is that this is an deviation of standards, damaging community cultural values and going against the orientation of developing civilized and sustainable tourism that the province is implementing.
Traditional costumes of ethnic minorities are not entertainment tools. It is impossible to take advantage of it to make people laugh offensively or attract views on social networks. The tourism industry does not encourage and does not accept any form of distorting or downplaying cultural heritage under the name of "experience".
Previously, the old Ha Giang province issued and implemented the Code of Cities for Cities in Tourism. After the merger, Tuyen Quang province will continue to inherit, deploy and replicate this set of rules.
According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang, in the coming time, the unit will continue to direct the strengthening of communication work. At the same time, organize inspections and supervision of the implementation of the Code of Conduct at tourist destinations. Thereby, raising public awareness and tourists about civilized behavior, respecting national cultural identity.
