How to make crispy and fragrant cheese potato balls for a snack

Preparation materials

3 potatoes

80g mozzarella cheese or cheese balls

1 chicken egg

50g wheat flour

80g breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon unsweetened fresh milk

A little butter if you like

salt, pepper, seasoning granules, cooking oil

How to do

Step 1: Preliminary processing and steaming potatoes

Peel potatoes, wash them and cut them into small pieces. Put the potatoes in a steamer until soft.

When the potatoes are still warm, mash them with a spoon. You can add a little plain butter, salt, pepper and fresh milk to make the potatoes fragrant, soft and easier to shape.

Step 2: Shaping sweet potato balls

Take a sufficient amount of sweet potatoes, press flat in the palm of your hand. Put the cheese in the middle and then roll it up, wrap the filling tightly so that the cheese does not run out when frying.

You should roll the sweet potatoes into bite-sized pieces, not too large, so that they are easy to cook evenly when fried or grilled.

Step 3: Cover the outer layer of dough

Prepare three separate bowls of flour, beaten chicken eggs and breadcrumbs.

Roll the sweet potato balls through flour one by one, dip them in eggs and coat them evenly with breadcrumbs. You can repeat the dipping step of eggs and breadcrumbs again if you want a thicker and crispier crust.

Step 4: Fry or bake sweet potato balls

Heat oil in a pan, add the sweet potato balls and fry over medium heat until the crust is golden brown. Then, take out onto oil blotting paper.

If using an oil-free frying pot, you can apply a thin layer of oil to the sweet potatoes, bake at 180 degrees C for about 10-12 minutes, turn the middle side to make the sweet potatoes golden brown evenly.

Step 5: Complete the snack

French fries should be served when they are still warm so that the cheese filling is soft and fatty. You can eat them with ketchup, mayonnaise or yogurt sauce depending on your taste.
