On March 18, Mr. Tran Quyet Thang - Chairman of Ia Mo Commune People's Committee (Gia Lai province) said that the locality had handed over a baby girl who was buried in a rubber plantation to a family in Da Nang for adoption.
The adopter is the family of Ms. P.T. T (38 years old, residing in Da Nang City). Previously, on December 29, 2025, Ia Mo Commune People's Committee issued an adoption certificate to this couple, but due to some procedural shortcomings, it was necessary to supplement it.
According to Mr. Thang, after the direction of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the locality has adjusted the adoption registration dossier in accordance with regulations and coordinated with functional agencies to hand over the baby girl to the family for adoption.
Currently, Ms. T's family has taken the baby to a large medical facility in Da Nang City to continue care and treatment.
Regarding this case, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has issued a document requesting the Department of Health to strictly review the slow implementation of the province's direction on inspecting and verifying applications for adoption of abandoned newborns in Ia Mo commune.
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, at about 9 pm on December 8, 2025, a resident in the area reported to Ia Mo Commune Police about the discovery of a newborn baby buried in the Ia Mo production team area (under Chu Pah Rubber Co., Ltd.).
The baby was found to be a baby girl, still with the umbilical cord, weighing 3.2 kg, with a scratch on her forehead suspected of being scratched by an animal. The baby was taken by functional agencies to Gia Lai Children's Hospital for timely treatment and care; currently her health has stabilized.
