Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the "Architectural Plan for Thu Thiem 4 Bridge" competition plan, belonging to component project 2 of the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge construction project.
The Thu Thiem 4 bridge project spans the Saigon River with 8 lanes, including 6 motorized lanes and 2 mixed lanes. The total length of the entire route is about 2.16 km, of which the main bridge section is about 1.635 km long, with a navigation clearance of 15 m.

The starting point of the project is Nguyen Van Linh street (near Tan Thuan 2 bridge), the ending point connects Nguyen Co Thach street in Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.

The goal of the competition is to find architectural options with high feasibility, modernity, and uniqueness, creating landscape highlights on the traffic axis connecting Thu Thiem New Urban Area with the Southern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project is expected not only to relieve traffic pressure in the southern gateway area but also create strong development momentum for both the South and the East, especially the Thu Thiem New Urban Area - where the Vietnam International Finance Center is located.
The competition is expanded to design consulting units at home and abroad, or joint ventures with sufficient capacity and experience in the fields of architecture, planning and bridges and roads. The expected competition time is about 85 days, from March 17, 2026.

The Thu Thiem 4 bridge project has been approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council since February 2026 with a total capital of more than 5,603 billion VND, divided into two component projects.
Component project 1 serves compensation, support and resettlement work with a total investment of about 1,385 billion VND. Component project 2 is the bridge construction part with a total investment of about 3,678 billion VND.
To ensure progress, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has also issued a document requesting departments, branches and related localities to urgently and synchronously deploy the work.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor) proactively coordinates with localities to review planning, organize architectural design competitions and develop detailed implementation plans.
According to the plan, the project will recover about 16.7 hectares of land, affecting 136 cases, of which 73 cases must be completely cleared. The city requires compensation, support and resettlement to ensure that people's living conditions are equal to or better than their old residence.

The Department of Construction is assigned to preside over guiding, inspecting and supervising the implementation process; the Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for guiding compensation and resettlement work; the Department of Planning and Architecture guides architectural design competitions and reviews and adjusts zoning planning when necessary.
The People's Committees of Tan Thuan and An Khanh wards are responsible for coordinating the implementation of compensation, support, resettlement and site clearance, ensuring project progress.
