Warm human trip
Recently, the online community has been sharing the story of Thu Bui - a female cancer patient on her journey home for Tet. An unexpected incident forced her to change vehicles at the last minute even though her legs were unable to walk.
The female patient wrote: "Today I just finished my 83rd chemotherapy session at the hospital, which is also the last chemotherapy session of the 2024 Lunar calendar, so I can go home for Tet. My house is 300km from the hospital, my legs are paralyzed and I can't walk, so every time I have to book a seat in advance, request a front row seat, and bring an oxygen tank to the car to breathe.
The bus station was quite crowded on Tet holiday, my mother took me to the bus station, carried me onto the bus and laid me down, then she went home. When the bus was leaving the station gate, I realized I was on the wrong bus...".

Faced with this awkward situation, she quickly called the bus conductor of the company that had booked the seat and informed him: "Sir, I got on the wrong bus. My legs are paralyzed and I can't walk. I don't know what to do."
Knowing what happened, the busboy spoke softly, asking her to stop so he could pick her up. She continued: "As soon as the bus stopped, I saw him coming like the wind, lifting me onto his back and running towards his bus. As he walked, I saw him breathing heavily, and everyone at the bus stop was looking at him.
When I got on the bus, he asked me a few questions like what was wrong with me, and if I was going to run away... I was still feeling guilty because I got on the wrong bus and he had to carry me on his back. Later, he went to collect the ticket money. I gave him the money but he refused to take it. He told me to keep it for my treatment and he would take it another time.
Ms. Thu’s story quickly attracted the attention and sharing of many netizens. Many people felt warmed by the story of the female cancer patient returning home for Tet and the noble act of the bus assistant.
According to Lao Dong's investigation, she is Bui Thi Ha Thu (born in 1992, residing in Hat Lot Town, Son La). She has late-stage breast cancer that has metastasized to the lungs, bones and brain, and is being treated at the 19-8 Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security.

Sharing with reporters, she said that her parents had to rent a room in Hanoi to both work and take care of their daughter. After carrying her to the car, her mother felt secure and let the Hanoi - Son bus take her home, where her husband was waiting. This time, there was an unexpected mistake that left everyone confused.
The female patient was touched by the enthusiastic help of the bus assistant, whom she did not know. She said that during her treatment, she also received a lot of attention and help from everyone. Some other bus companies also cared, supported, and did not charge her when she got on the bus.
Longing to stay with family
Five years of fighting cancer have left the family financially exhausted, in debt, and the financial burden has fallen on her husband. The deadly disease has caused pressure and pain, but she has persevered in fighting because of her desire to live and stay with her husband and children.
Due to her illness getting worse, after Tet, Ms. Thu asked to quit her job at the office. The family's situation became more difficult when in the middle of the year, her husband fell while working part-time and tore a ligament, requiring hospital surgery.
"During my treatment, I met many good people both in real life and on social networks. Everyone sent words of encouragement and support, both materially and spiritually, helping me have the opportunity to prolong my life. Receiving gifts such as food, medicine, books... I felt very happy, it was the motivation for me to fight the deadly disease," Ms. Thu confided.
Besides, her daily joy is seeing her son being obedient and understanding. "I long to live. As long as I still have breath, I am grateful for life, because that day my son is not yet an orphan...", Ms. Thu confided.
"In the new year 2025, I just wish for health and peace for my family and everyone. I hope the terrible disease will be pushed back so I can be with my family longer," Ms. Thu shared.
