Operating a dishwasher at night can cause some problems
Dishwashers are becoming increasingly popular in many families thanks to their ability to save time and effort. To take advantage of free time or avoid affecting daytime activities, many people choose to start the dishwasher before going to bed.
However, experts believe that letting the device operate when there is no monitoring can increase the risk of missing out on arising technical incidents.
According to Ron Shimek - Chairman of Mr. Appliance (USA), household appliances using water such as dishwashers or washing machines are at risk of leakage if pipes, rubber gaskets or drainage systems malfunction. If an incident occurs at night, users may not detect it in time to handle it.
Many dishwasher models still create certain noises during operation. For families with young children, the elderly or people who do not sleep deeply, the sound from the device can affect sleep quality.
Noise, humidity and water leakage risks need to be noted
Another problem is the humidity generated during the washing and drying of dishes. Steam coming out of the machine can increase humidity in the kitchen space, especially on humid days or when the kitchen area lacks ventilation.
Dr. Joseph Allen - Director of the Healthy Housing Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (USA) - said that an indoor environment with excessively high humidity for a long time can create conditions for mold and microorganisms to grow, affecting air quality.
In addition, operating the machine while everyone is sleeping also makes abnormal signs such as water leakage, drain blockage or technical errors difficult to detect immediately. If the incident lasts for many hours, the risk of damage to the floor, kitchen cabinets or surrounding electrical equipment will increase.
Experts recommend that users should periodically check the water supply and drainage system, clean the filter regularly and prioritize operating the machine when someone is at home. In case of needing to use it at night, it is recommended to ensure that the device is still working well and the kitchen area is fully ventilated to minimize risks.
