"To understand the potential impact of tea on stroke risk in women, the research team analyzed data from 5,731 adult women aged 20 to 60, recorded in the NHANES database (National Health and Nutrition Survey).
The risk of stroke decreased by 9% for every 100g of tea consumed by survey participants. In the unadjusted model, people who drank 307.5g of tea. Researchers also looked at the link between the sugar content in tea and the risk of stroke. They found that women who drink unsweetened tea have a lower risk of stroke.
Both green tea and black tea can reduce the risk of stroke. But green tea can be especially effective due to its high antioxidant content.
In fact, a 2021 study conducted by the ASA found that stroke survivors who drank 7 cups or more of green tea per day had a 62% reduction in their risk of death," the author of the article stated.
The article also says that there are many other ways to reduce the risk of stroke, including quitting smoking, following a healthy diet, exercising, limiting alcohol and reducing stress.
