In the peak period of Vietnamese women's volleyball in the years 2000-2010, Pham Thi Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and Bui Thi Hue were familiar faces, often standing side by side in the national team jersey.
After retiring, each person chooses their own direction, but both build a stable family life, associated with the sports environment and professional work.
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa is one of the most outstanding middle blockers in the history of Vietnamese women's volleyball. When she was playing, she wore the VTV Binh Dien Long An shirt, while her husband, Le Thai Binh, played for the Long An men's team. The two met, became attached in the sports environment and officially got married in 2014 after 8 years of dating.
During her peak competition, Ngoc Hoa still maintained stable form despite her tight training and competition schedule. In 2019, she announced her retirement at the age of 32 to focus on her family. In May 2023, Ngoc Hoa and her husband welcomed their first child. For a while, she returned to compete for VTV Binh Dien Long An before switching to coaching.
Currently, Ngoc Hoa is taking on the role of assistant coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Meanwhile, her husband Le Thai Binh is the head coach of the Vietnamese U20 men's team, and also participates in coaching at Tay Ninh men's club.
Bui Thi Hue is also a prominent face of Vietnamese women's volleyball for many years, having played the main role in the national team. She and coach Tran Van Giap met early, are from Thai Binh and both pursued a professional volleyball career. The couple married in 2008 and currently have two sons.
After achieving many achievements with the national team, Bui Thi Hue decided to stop competing from 2012 to spend time with her family. In the period when the Thai Binh women's team needed forces for the transition process, she returned to short-term competition in the A division in 2020 and the national championship in 2021.
At that time, the head coach of Thai Binh women's team was her husband - Tran Van Giap. Currently, Bui Thi Hue is coaching the Thai Binh youth women's team, while Mr. Giap continues to lead the home team in the national championship and domestic tournaments.
Compared to her two teammates, Pham Thi Yen - former middle blocker of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team and Binh Chung Thong Tin club got married quite late. She and her husband Dang Duc Chung just got married in June after a long time together.
After getting married, Pham Thi Yen continued to work in the armed forces and participated in professional support for the Women's Volleyball Team of the Information Corps.
On social networks, Dang Duc Chung's husband occasionally shares everyday photos of the couple, especially on holidays or events associated with Pham Thi Yen's work. In the times the former female player participates in coaching or appears at tournaments, Mr. Chung always closely follows and supports her.
In the opposite direction, Pham Thi Yen also appears with her husband at important events related to professional work. Their family life takes place discreetly, but still maintains attachment in work and life.
