On August 2, the two volleyball teams of BTL Information 1 and BTL Information 2 played a friendly match in Thai Nguyen on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (September 7, 1945 - September 7, 2025).
The squads of both teams are familiar faces of the Information Corps women's volleyball team. In addition to the players in the familiar starting lineup, the match also featured former players such as Nguyen Linh Chi, Bui Thi Nga, Au Hong Nhung, especially former beauty queen Pham Thi Yen.
This is the first time in 8 years since retiring to become a coaching player that Pham Thi Yen has worn a competitive jersey to play. She and her teammates received enthusiastic cheers from fans and audiences present at the stadium.
At the age of U40, the beauty born in 1985 still moves agilely, flexibly, actively participates in attack and defense. Pham Thi Yen's smashes are still powerful and bring important points for the home team.
truely known as the "Voc bong Miss" of the past, Pham Thi Yen still stood out on the court with her white skin, lovely face, radiant smile and confident demeanor on the court.
The former player born in 1985 shared: "I was very happy to have participated in a match even though it was only for friendship. It's been a long time since I've played as an athlete.
I used to occasionally maintain my physical strength, but I have been out for more than a year now. Therefore, playing at high intensity feels quite tired. But team spirit as well as atmosphere are the greatest joys for me".
After the match, former player Pham Thi Yen immediately called to share the joy with her husband, Mr. Dang Duc Chung. Mr. Chung expressed: "It has been 8 years since Yen retired, I have only seen her return to competition. It is still my legendary number 7. Due to being busy with work, I could not directly follow and cheer for Yen as well as the teams. But I still took the opportunity to watch the match online.
For me, the image of Yen being able to live her passion to the fullest is the most beautiful. No matter how many years she has gone, just need to play and stick with the ball, Yen is always so dedicated, enthusiastic and "arduous". I clearly felt Yen's joy when she was excited before and after the match. I am happy and proud of my partner."
Pham Thi Yen was born in 1985, one of the symbols of the golden generation of Vietnamese women's volleyball in the period of 2005-2015. With 11 national championships, 2 international Miss titles and a silver medal at the SEA Games, Pham Thi Yen made a strong impression, being one of the most outstanding strikers in the history of Vietnamese volleyball.
After retiring in 2016, Pham Thi Yen switched to coaching, currently the assistant coach of the Information Corps women's volleyball team.
In 2025, she received two great joys, which were the promotion of Lieutenant Colonel (February) and getting married (June).
