Modern parents and the pressure of perfect standards
In today's society, many parents are facing invisible pressure from becoming "perfect parents".
Not only simply caring for and raising children, they are also under pressure to do the best for their children to develop, achieve outstanding results and become perfect according to social standards.
Ms. Hoang Lan (Hoang Mai, Hanoi), the mother of a 7-year-old girl, admitted that she is always stressed by the worry that her child is not good enough.
"I am afraid that my child will lose money to his friends if he does not learn more talents or life skills. Thanh spent hours every day looking for classes, textbooks, and supplementary documents. I am always afraid that I will not do enough for my child, Ms. Hoang Lan shared.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nhat Nam (Cau Giay, Hanoi) is experiencing a feeling of fatigue with the pressure of being a parent in the current era.
" Going to work is tiring, coming home I have to worry about everything for my children, from food, education to future orientation. There are times when I think that raising children is more tiring than working, Mr. Nhat Nam confided.
What does the feeling of "raising children to work more tiredly" reflect?
The pressure to become a "perfect father and mother" is not only the story of Ms. Hoang Lan or Mr. Nhat Nam but the common situation of many modern families.
Sharing about this pressure, Psychologist Mai Viet Duc - Nhan Hoa Viet Psychotherapy and Counseling Center, said: Feeling more tired at work clearly reflects the imbalance between parents' expectations and children's development. Many parents want their children to be perfect, while in reality, they are just a child growing up, learning and cannot achieve those things immediately.
The pressure of being a perfect parent today can easily make parents stressed and tired, sometimes feeling exhausted.
Instead of placing too much emphasis on expectations, accompany and listen to your child. Children will develop best when they feel recognized and not imposed, the expert shared.
In addition, parents also need to take care of themselves, spend time for themselves and seek support when needed.
Because only when adults are safe can they raise a happy child. Love, understanding and patience are the most important things in the journey of raising children, said the expert.
