Recently, doctors at the Aesthetic Center - 108 Central Military Hospital "rescued" a woman from a giant belly measuring up to 130cm.
Ms. N.T.B, 57 years old, has lived with a 130cm oversized belly for more than 10 years, seriously affecting both her appearance and health.
According to her, more than 10 years ago, she underwent a serious illness and had to take medicine for many years to maintain her health, which caused her weight to increase continuously, especially in the abdominal area.
“It was extremely heavy, my body was always sluggish, I always felt tired, it was difficult to sit or lie down, if I slept I had to lie on my side otherwise it would be very difficult to breathe. When I walked or did anything, my belly would shake with every movement. My clothes always had to be custom-made because of my size.
"The looks and comments about my body when I go out make me very sad. Every day that passes is like a battle with my own body. I am really miserable with this belly because it has such a big impact on my work and life," said Ms. B.
After a thorough examination, Ms. B. underwent a 4-hour surgery, performed by doctors at the Aesthetic Center - 108 Central Military Hospital.
“The patient is 1m57 tall, weighs 80kg, has excess body fat, especially a large amount of fat in the abdomen, and has many comorbidities including fat metabolism disorder, diabetes, a history of cerebral aneurysm, has had vascular intervention, and has been on anticoagulants for 10 years. The difficulty of the surgery is not only removing the patient's large amount of fat, but also ensuring safety in anesthesia, resuscitation, and postoperative care,” Dr. Thu Phuong shared about the case of patient B.
After the surgery, 80% of the patient's excess fat and skin in the abdominal area was removed by abdominoplasty with umbilical cord transfer, and 8kg of the specimen was removed - the main cause of many problems for the patient in daily life.
Her waist circumference has now reduced from 130cm to only 98cm. According to doctors, her waist and body will be slimmer after a full recovery.
After only 3 hours of surgery, the patient will be closely monitored for post-operative health and will need a follow-up visit after discharge.
According to doctors, obesity and uncontrolled weight gain are caused by many reasons. In many cases, people cannot lose weight by conventional methods such as adjusting their diet or exercising. Therefore, cosmetic surgery is a method that many people consider.
However, doctors also recommend that anyone in need should find a truly reputable facility before considering surgery.
