According to the 2024 Population and Housing Survey data released by the General Statistics Office in early 2025, 2.9% of urban residents are divorced, most commonly in the 40-49 age group.
Statistics show that the proportion of the population aged 15 and over who have been married is 74.9%. The most common Marriage situation among people aged 15 and over in Vietnam is "Husband/wife" (65.3%).
The average age of first marriage of the population is 27.3, an increase of 2.1 years compared to 2019, in which men get married 4.2 years later than women (29.4 years and 25.2 years respectively). Women in urban areas get married significantly later than women in rural areas, the average age difference for first marriage of urban women is 2.7 years higher than that of rural women (26.8 years compared to 24.1 years).
37.8% of people aged 15 and over in urban areas are living in a state of "single" (unmarried/song Married; widowed; divorced; separated), in rural areas it is 32.7%.
According to statistics, the whole country has about 2,225,900 divorces/medication, of which more than 963,300 are men and nearly 1,262,600 are women. In particular, the urban population has a higher divorce rate than rural areas (2.9% compared to 2.4%).
By region, the Southeast region is the place with the highest divorce/divorce rate with nearly 560,000 people. Ranked 2nd is the Mekong Delta with more than 521,700 people.
The locality with the highest number of divorces/cononononon is Ho Chi Minh City with more than 263,300 people, more than 99,700 men and nearly 163,600 women. Next is Hanoi with more than 146,400 people, including more than 57,800 men and 89,600 women.

In addition, statistics show that provinces/cities also have high-level divorcees/medication including: Binh Duong (over 91,000 people); Dong Nai (nearly 83,000 people); Tien Giang (65,000 people); Thanh Hoa (57,000 people); Tay Ninh (55,000 people); An Giang (over 53,000 people), Hai Phong (52,000 people); Kien Giang (over 49,000 people), Nghe An (nearly 46,000 people), Dong Thap (over 44,000 people)...
The province with the lowest number of divorces/medication is Bac Kan with 6,417 people. After is Cao Bang with more than 7,300 people.
In terms of age, the highest divorce rate among men is between 40-44 years old (4.2%), followed by 35-39 years old and 45-49 years old respectively (4% and 3.6% respectively). For women, the highest age of divorce is 40-44 and 45-49 (4.6%). The 35-39 age group also has a high divorce rate (4.3%).
After the age of 49, the divorce rate of Vietnamese people has gradually decreased.
According to the General Statistics Office, divorce in Vietnam is not common and accounts for a low proportion. However, the divorce rate varies by gender. The rate of divorce in women is always higher than in men across all age groups. The divorce rate is also getting lower and lower, not common in Vietnam.
