On November 13, girl group NewJeans sent a letter to their management company, ADOR (under HYBE Labels), stating: "We will terminate the exclusive contract if ADOR does not accept the request for correction."
All 5 NewJeans members including Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein signed at the end of the document.
On the morning of November 14, Channel A published a summary of the 6 requests that NewJeans sent to CEO Kim Joo Young of ADOR:
“We request that ADOR, as the agency responsible for managing NewJeans, take the necessary measures to address HYBE's internal decision to "dismantle NewJeans and reorganize".
We demand that action be taken against the manager of a HYBE subsidiary who ordered his artist to "ignore" Hanni.
We demand action from HYBE's media team to address the disparaging behavior of NewJeans.
We request that you monitor and delete photos, videos, and other unofficial content related to NewJeans members during their trainee and minor years.
We ask ADOR to address the underperformance of NewJeans due to controversy surrounding HYBE's "pre-buy" (sales-boosting) tactics.
We request that any unnecessary disputes with Dolphiners Films director Shin Woo Seok be resolved promptly and that NewJeans' previous productions be removed from approved channels.”
Ultimately, the members stated, "NewJeans has no way to restore the trust that has been damaged" and "ADOR must remedy any material breaches of the exclusivity agreement set forth within 14 days of receipt of this letter," or they will seek to terminate the exclusivity agreement.
On the afternoon of November 14, ADOR gave an official response after receiving NewJeans' letter.
“We are reviewing the content while taking into account NewJeans’ stated demands. We will do our best to resolve the issue in a transparent manner and continue to work with the artists,” the company said.
ADOR also stated that NewJeans family members were not involved in the rumor of meeting with outside investors with former CEO Min Hee Jin. Min Hee Jin also denied this.
