KBS2's Smoking Gun investigation program has just aired a documentary about the incident that occurred in 2004.
Yang Sora played a popular role in a 2004 drama filmed in Hadong, Gyeongsang-nam, Korea.
After that, she began to behave strangely, and had to be hospitalized in a mental hospital for treatment. During the therapy, Sora recounted being sexually harassed on set.
During the 2 months of filming, Sora was sexually assaulted, drugged and raped by his assistant director many times. This person continuously harassed the actress during recess or while traveling by bus. When Sora tried to resist, she was threatened with a knife by him.
In addition, Sora revealed that he was harassed and sexually assaulted by 3 different assistant directors. One of them took her phone and detained her for 3 days.
When he returned home, supported by his mother, Yang Sora filed a lawsuit against 12 people, including 4 on charges of forced marriage and 8 others of sexual harassment while filming. Sora claimed to have been raped or sexually assaulted 40 times by the film crew for 3 months.
However, Yang Sora decided to withdraw the complaint after 2 years. The actress said she was in pain and could not bear to recreate painful memories during the questioning process.
According to the program, on August 28, 2009, Yang Sora jumped from the 18th floor of an apartment building.
Just 6 days after Sora passed away, her younger sister Yang So Jung also followed her. So Jung is said to be self-conscious and miserable because she was the one who introduced her sister to acting.
The shock of losing 2 children caused Sora and So Jung's father to have a brain hemorrhage and then die.
After many years, the mother of the two unfortunate girls decided to make the story public on television to seek justice.
She accused the bloated and insensitive attitude of the police officers who received the incident of being a factor that caused her daughter to fall into crisis.
During the reporting process, the victim and her family encountered many difficulties. Sora's mother recalled, "I brought the lyrics and audio recording that Sora left to the police station, but they just said, 'You think these things are evidence? He is an adult and cannot be prosecuted. They also told Sora to forget everything and integrate into society".
After that, another investigator received the complaint, but repeatedly questioned Sora with hurtful questions about the abuse.
Sora's mother said the police took her daughter and the victim to sit in the same room, without a shield and forced her to prove the process of collapsing.
Many details related to the incident and the investigation process were published by Sora's mother in the documentary. Currently, this sex scandal has shocked the Korean public.
Thousands of angry and indignant audiences demanded a re-interrest, bringing the inhumane to light and returning justice to the victims and their families.
