According to the indictment, Truong Nghe Duong (30 years old - time of the crime) had a relationship with a 16-year-old female teenager since September 2021, working in the same entertainment industry.
During this time, Truong Nghe Duong used sophisticated psychological manipulation measures, threatening to commit suicide to control the victim's spirit, causing her to be physically and mentally exhausted.
In early February 2022, the victim decided to end the relationship. On February 26, 2022, Truong Nghe Duong tricked the girl into going to a deserted forest in Hung Binh city with the reason of celebrating her birthday.
On the way, the two argue about a breakup. Suddenly, the actor used a knife to stab his girlfriend in the neck, causing her to die due to excessive blood loss.
After committing the crime, Truong Nghe Duong dismissed the evidence, then took the victim's phone, returned home to change clothes, washed the blood stains and tried to remove related evidence.
The subject traveled to a hotel with the intention of committing suicide but was discovered by hotel staff and reported to the police, leading to his arrest immediately.
The investigation of the authorities determined that the motive for Truong Nghe Duong's crime stemmed from hatred and psychological damage accumulated after being broken up with his girlfriend. With clear evidence, Truong Nghe Duong was prosecuted and charged with intentional homelessness.
At the end of the trial, the Trial Council determined that this crime was of a particularly serious nature, demonstrating cruelty and showing no signs of repentance. Therefore, the Court sentenced the actor to death in accordance with the law.
Although Truong Nghe Duong filed an appeal, the higher court rejected and upheld the first instance judgment.
Truong Nghe Duong is the first artist in the history of this country to suffer the highest sentence by law.
