In "The War in the Air", Dao Duy Bao Dinh was born in 1994, from Khanh Hoa, playing the role of not a gangster. Sau, a shy character who also has moments of crazy due to stress and dominance. Bao Dinh's performance received many compliments even though he is a new face. Many audiences even voted him as the most impressive actor in the film.
The biggest thing to learn from Thai Hoa
- How did you play the role of the robber - not a robber, but also the son of Long (Thai Hoa) in "The Death in the Air"?
- I received a message from director Ham Tran inviting me to participate in the casting, but this is not the first time he has known me. Before that, I participated in a casting for another of his projects but it did not work. Maybe he still remembers and sees it as suitable, so he should directly contact this project.
I only participated in the casting once and was selected. Mr. Ham Tran also shared that I standing next to Mr. Thai Hoa was very similar to a father and son. This is the first film released to Vietnamese audiences, so it is both happy and worried, and has a lot of pressure. I am too new and lack a lot of experience compared to my experienced actors.
- How did you prepare to transform into the role of Suu?
- Actually, I was already thin and dressed quite simply, so I didn't need to prepare too much for the role of Suu. However, there is an interesting story that I always remember about my figure.
While preparing to turn on the phone, I lost sleep, causing my skin to darken and have many acne. But during the return, he continuously gained weight. Mainly because everyone in the group takes care of each other too much, it is often delicious to irresistible dishes.
At first, I realized that this change was due to the increasingly tightness of the flared pants I wore. However, I consider it an ideal look for Suu, so let everything go naturally, mainly not to gain weight too much to the point of difference.
That change has supported me a lot, helping me become more and more like Thai Hoa.
- As a rookie on the big screen, playing the son of Thai Hoa, what did you learn from your seniors?
- The pressure of accompanying Mr. Thai Hoa is a great source of motivation for me. Because I always want to be a good co-star with him.
But clearly, his extensive experience not only helps me but also supports everyone in the group a lot.
The biggest thing I learned from him was his modesty and passion when transforming into the character. I think just this is enough to affect everyone's spirit and enthusiasm.
Not afraid of "doing the role", happy to be highly appreciated by the audience

- So which scene in the movie The War in the Air makes you find it most difficult?
- I think action scenes are the biggest challenge. I never thought I could act in an action film because I knew my physical strength and flexibility.
No matter how much training you do, the most important factor is still honesty when taking shape.
In addition, the action exercises almost always have to be renewed right at the time of filming due to space differences, between practice and on the main set.
Therefore, not only me but all actors must immediately learn and adapt to the action scene adjustments before filming. This makes me not only proud of myself but also admire the cast of The War in the Air.
In addition, psychological segments are always difficult. I went through a journey to nurture the character's psychology, from before filming until the film was completed.
being a difficult role, I understood that I had to prepare carefully for each scene, both listening to myself and combining with the directors images to bring a vivid, profound character.
- What do you think when many audiences vote you as the most impressive actor in the film?
- I am very grateful and happy to be loved and appreciated by everyone for the character Suu I have portrayed.
This is really valuable for an actor. But I understand that I cannot shine without the support of other characters. Therefore, this happiness is not only for me, but the common result of everyone who contributed to the film.
I am happy that Suu is loved and a part of The War in the Air to receive the affection of the audience. Besides, sometimes I also feel pressured because I worry about whether in the future I will disappoint the audience who have supported me so much or not.
- Many actors have risen to fame after a role but are also easily "dead in the role". Are you worried or pressured about that?
- I did not think that I would " die in the role" because Suu was still just a small piece in the journey to exploit herself in terms of acting. There will be many other aspects or boundaries that I need to overcome.
Only what is the case is whether or not there are any exploratory acting opportunities. Most importantly, I hope I am truly alert enough to understand myself when facing the choices.
- Thank you for sharing!
