Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, actor Duc Son said that the role of Dang Duc in the political drama "Lan ranh" is an experience "both familiar and strange". According to the male actor, Dang Duc does not appear throughout the entire film, but is an important link in the story.

When I received the script, I was also quite pressured. This film is a key project in the past year and in collaboration with the Procuracy, and before that there was a film that was very successful in collaboration with the Procuracy, Sinh Tu. Although Dang Duc is just a supporting character, he is an important link in the gambling ring.
The most difficult thing for me is to express the character's psychology, being both a cunning character and a person who holds secrets, so I maintain my advantages but at the same time I am still a person who looks towards family, wife and children," Duc Son confided.
The male actor said that in real life he is not involved in betting or gambling, while Dang Duc lives in the vortex of gambling and debt. That contrast helps him see more clearly the "human" part of the character.
With political films, dialogue is often a challenge. Duc Son said that roles in politics, police, and the Procuracy have many professional terms, so they are "difficult". The character line like Dang Duc is more familiar, life more, but still requires the dialogue rhythm to be standard to boost psychology.
A scene that the male actor will always remember is the scene being pushed to the rooftop when the director asked his breath, panic and dialogue to be like someone who has just run many floors, while in reality the crew went straight to the rooftop to film the scene.
Mentioning the backstage, Duc Son recounted a series of memorable memories such as lying under a dirty bridge for many hours in Hanoi weather after rain; having to kneel on the asphalt road at the bus station, feeling numb, clothes torn and dirty, and especially the scene of falling in the rooftop area. “At first, the cushions were too thin, falling down was as painful as pulling out the spine. After having to insert more cushions, I still fell dozens of times,” he recalled.

Among the large cast of "Borders", Duc Son expressed his appreciation for working with veteran artists, especially People's Artist Trung Anh.
For him, the biggest lesson learned is professionalism, meticulousness in each scene and the way of "interpreting and acting" to be true to the character's psychology, true to the director's desires.
No role is the same as any other. For each movie that passes, I accumulate a little more, so that the next role can be done better," actor Duc Son said.
