Recently, YG Entertainment posted an updated video about the activities of the two groups Baby Monster and TREASURE.
But near the end of the video, executive producer Yang Hyun Suk suddenly shared information about Blackpink's upcoming album. YG announced that Blackpink will return with a mini album.
According to Yang Hyun Suk, this mini album is not yet complete. Blackpink is working hard with producers to complete it in the context of the group's world tour taking place.
Yang Hyun Suk hopes Blackpink's mini album will be released "no later than November".
Information from YG immediately caused outrage in the Blackpink fan community.
This is an album that marks Blackpink's comeback after 3 years since the album "Born Pink" (2022), so fans expected the group to have a grand full album with the same number of songs as Jennie, Lisa and Rose's solo albums (12-13 songs).
But according to YG, Blackpink will return with a mini- album, so the album is likely to have only about 3-6 songs. The album's release date was also slower than expected.
Initially, Korean media predicted that the new album would be released before Blackpink held a deadline global tour in July. But in the end, the only single released first was Jump.
This also caused Blackpink's tour to be mocked by the Kpop fan community. Usually, artists and bands organize big tours after releasing a new album.
For example, G-Dragon (Big Bang) is holding a "Übermensch" tour after releasing his solo album of the same name earlier this year. During the concerts, the audience will be able to watch the artists perform the new songs live.
But on the Deadline tour, only "Jump" is a new song by Blackpink, the rest are familiar hits such as "Kill This Love", "Pink Venom", "How You Like That", "Playing With Fire", "Ddu Du Ddu Du"...
Many people think that with a full list of old songs, the money spent to buy tickets for Blackpink's concert is not worth it.
