Recently, social networks have exploded with a clip recording the scene of actors who are prisoners of Con Dao being thin and chained in prison. The video quickly reached millions of views and thousands of comments. Many people even think that this is a product of AI because the skinny appearance of the cast is so real that it is unbelievable.
In fact, this is the behind-the-scenes of the movie "The sound of the ocean" - a work using the State budget.
The film is inspired by stories about the "hell on earth" of Con Dao in the period of 1945 - 1954, where revolutionary soldiers were imprisoned.
The work tells the story of political prisoners who were imprisoned in Con Dao prison with a strong will, sharing the desire for freedom, and always being ready to sacrifice for the Fatherland.
The central character is Tam (Nguyen Thuy Duong), a girl playing the monochord, assigned to transform into a nurse to take care of a Prisoner and accompany comrade Duy (Nguyen Quang Thuan) - a soldier who is secretly carrying out a plan to escape prison with his teammates. The monochord throughout the film is not only music but also a spiritual weapon, affirming the desire for freedom and peace.
The scene caused a stir when a behind-the-scenes video attracted nearly 3 million views on Facebook, causing the audience to discuss enthusiastically. Many people were surprised by the investment of the crew, thinking that the work deserved to be widely released as Red Rain or Dao, Pho and Piano. However, the film will only be shown at the National Film Festival (Hanoi) from September 16.

According to the crew, filming in Con Dao encountered many difficulties due to the lack of terrain, materials, and harsh weather, but thanks to that, the filming was highly realistic.
The Voice Over the Ocean brings together the cast of People's Artist Bui Bai Binh, Vinh Xuong, Thuy Duong, Quang Thuan and a number of international artists.
Not only recreating history, the film also sends today's peace message that the exchange is blood and tears, the young generation needs to respect and live worthy of the heroic past.
