Recently, actor Kim Woo Bin appeared on singer Jung Jae Hyung's YouTube chat show and confided about his time fighting nasopharyngeal cancer, as well as the changes in his life and work due to this disease.
Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017, at the peak of his career. The actor even revealed about his big shock when the doctor said that "if it progressed badly, I only have 6 months to live".
Kim Woo Bin had to temporarily stop working and spent 2 years focusing on treatment. The actor born in 1989 underwent many painful radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions, causing his body to weaken, his hair loss and weight loss. But he still tried to stay optimistic throughout the treatment process.
Jung Jae Hyung told Kim Woo Bin: "Looking at you now, it seems like the time fighting the disease has a clear meaning."
Kim Woo Bin agreed with this, he shared with a positive attitude: "Actually, I don't remember any more about that pain, because the level of pain was so terrible. Now I think that is considered no longer there, only good things remain.
Instead, I realized how to love myself and love others. There are many things that I used to take for granted because I was used to them, but now I feel extremely grateful.
I realized that God had given me a wonderful gift during that break. Now, my heart feels relieved and happy.
Kim Woo Bin said that before, if he had 3 hours to sleep, he would sleep 1 hour and spend 2 hours exercising. But the actor's lifestyle has changed after fighting the disease. Currently, he chooses to sleep all 3 hours and cares more about his health.
Also in a conversation with Jung Jae Hyung, Kim Woo Bin shared a surprising story related to work when he was sick.
The actor recalled: "At that time, I agreed to participate in a number of film projects. I discovered I was sick 1 month after being chosen to participate in a work by director Choi Dong Hoon.
But when he heard that I was sick, instead of choosing a replacement actor, director Choi completely canceled the project. I was very moved to hear him say, 'Wo Bin would be so sad if he discovered it.'
Later, Kim Woo Bin returned to acting after recovering from illness, and he appeared in director Choi Dong Hoon's "Alienoid", which was released in 2022.
