In 2025, Kaity Nguyen will return to the screen with the Tet movie "Love by mistake for a best friend", playing the role of Binh An. The image of Binh An in high school reminds us of the role of Linh Dan in "Em chua 18". At the age of 26, does Kaity Nguyen find playing the role of a female student more difficult or easier?
- Luckily I'm not too "mature". I'm happy that the audience still believes that the character Binh An is 18 years old.
At the age of 26, playing the role of a schoolgirl is not too difficult, because my personality has not changed much since then, only the way I work is different. In real life, I am still a dreamy, innocent girl.
In the film, Kaity Nguyen's character has romantic relationships with both Toan (Ngoc Vang) and Vu (Thanh Son). As a co-star, how do you see Ngoc Vang and Thanh Son's personalities in real life?
- We get along very well. Thanh Son surprised me because at first I thought he was a serious person, but in fact he is very funny and charming. Thanh Son is humorous in a very strange way that I think I would not know if I did not become friends with him.
As for Ngoc Vang, I see that you have many similarities with Bao Toan, a gentle personality. I hope Ngoc Vang will have more opportunities to be more confident, more accepted, and transform into more types of roles.
When "Love by mistake best friend" was released, some viewers commented that the chemistry between Kaity and Ngoc Vang was not genuine and convincing. How does Kaity evaluate this collaboration with Ngoc Vang?
- I think everyone will have their own opinion. Personally, I think the chemistry with my co-star is quite good, at least for the director and other audiences to feel complete. Maybe some audiences have different perspectives, and I am very grateful for those comments so that next time I have experience to do better.
From "Blood Moon Party" to "Love by Mistake", it can be seen that director Nguyen Quang Dung has a certain priority for Kaity Nguyen. Can you share about your relationship with director Nguyen Quang Dung?
- I worked with Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung by chance. We also knew each other in the same circle of work relationships, so perhaps he always wanted to find suitable scripts for me. I always said that I didn't need a romantic script, but I wanted a more introspective character. He always paid attention and remembered me, which I was very grateful for.
Debuting at the age of 18 and becoming a star right from her first work, how has the immature Kaity Nguyen changed over the time she has been "rolling around" in showbiz?
- I have had experiences, ups and downs, from which I also see things differently. I see myself as more mature, no longer facing "storms" weakly.
Of course I don’t have a “spirit of steel”, because everyone has moments of weakness. But now, I’m not alone, I have colleagues and partners, so I feel more secure and stronger.

Kaity Nguyen is dubbed by the audience as "hundred billion jade girl", "hundred billion beauty" and is often compared to another jade girl, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc. How do you deal with the audience's comparisons?
- I think both sisters have their own paths, each has their own interests. I don't have enough expertise or experience to judge anyone's acting skills or career. To me, Lan Ngoc is someone I love and respect very much. I hope one day I have the opportunity to work with her again because the first time we acted together, I was very happy.
Not only acting in films, Kaity Nguyen has started participating in the production and investment process of films, for example, the role of Creative Director in "Love by mistake for a best friend". What are your ambitions for cinema, when Vietnamese cinema in recent years seems to have a "bottleneck" in scripts?
- I love cinema, and I also understand that the weakness of Vietnamese cinema is the script. I try to limit that by participating in production, finding partners and screenwriters who can bring newer scripts. I cannot stop working because of the scarcity of scripts.
I think that in order for actors to do their jobs well, producers must create a safe space. Actors must be confident to shine. That is what I have done from “Em chua 18”, to “Tiec trang mau” and my films. Because the crew treats the actors very well, the actors will also try 200% and make successful films.
Has actress Kaity Nguyen thought about producing and directing her own work?
- After the movie "Blood Moon Party", I began to understand myself better, shaping my direction so that I can accompany Vietnamese cinema longer. If I have the chance and enough experience, I will try my hand at the role of director.
At the moment, I still like to do film production. Every job requires fate, it is unpredictable. I am not closing that door but I understand that I need more experience.
I need more experience, then it is not too late to become a director. Sometimes when I am 40 or 50 years old, it is also very good to try to become a director. But at the present time, I do not know if that will happen or not.
