Prosecution and the dark side at the Cannes Film Festival

Behind the sparkling red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival are the noisy hidden corners that have caused controversy for many years.

The red carpet film debuts and the appearance of top Hollywood stars have helped the Cannes Film Festival become one of the most powerful and attractive film events in the world.

However, in the eyes of the beauties who dream of changing their lives, Cannes is a pricey and potential date, according to Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail reported that every film festival season, many "high-end" prostitutes from all over Europe gather in Cannes to sell themselves in luxury hotels and yachts.

Among them, there are many young models, actors, and social media stars who are invited to attend luxurious parties on the ship and "thank" the owners by spending the night with them.

On land, many prostitutes have a clearer "pricet table", which can be calculated by the hour, depending on the needs of customers. The trading rules are also simpler because both sides do not have much travel cost, traveling like on a cruise.

A girl can sell sex for 2,000 Euros (more than 55 million VND) a night if she meets rich Middle Eastern guests during the film festival.

Revealing to Daily Mail, Slovakian Klara said: "I work in Paris, but I go to Cannes every year during the film festival season. That is an opportunity to earn a large sum of money. I just needed to sit in the lobby of a hotel or bar. The men will ask me if I want to make money or not, then let me know their room number."

Klara admitted that hotels tried to stop prostitution but were ineffective, because France did not ban couples from staying overnight in hotels. She charges 1,000 Euros/hour, 5,000 Euros/night.

Many years ago, prostitution was a burning issue at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to Hollywood Reporter, luxury prostitutes operating in the film festival season cost up to $4,000 per night. Nahas, who runs a prostitution ring, said she earns $40,000 a night.

furthermore, hotels and cruises in Cannes have become places for prostitutes and guests to hang out. It is even difficult to distinguish between prostitutes and less famous models/actors who receive money to sleep with tycoons.

The Hollywood Reporter once caused a stir when it revealed a series of mid-range or less famous Hollywood actresses coming to Cannes to become prostitutes.

After that, France passed an anti-prosthood law in 2016, making "love-exchange for money" activities more reserved and difficult to detect.

In addition, the #MeToo movement exposing the sexual harassment and sexual abuse scandal of "boss" Harvey Weinstein in 2017 was also seen as a reason for the reduction of prostitution.

However, the customers and prostitutes still have many ways to circumvent the law. For example, they can transact by phone, private applications and go to the meeting place, go directly to the living room to avoid hotel reception.
