In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai recalled his memories of his days on stage: "I still remember the days when ticket sales were in front of the cinema or performance venue, the most frightening thing was meeting with counterfeit bills. We had to buy an extremely purple light to check which one was real and which one was fake. If any artist receives counterfeit money, they may lose sleep all night."
When the stage fell into difficulty, the theater was deserted, artists had to sell tickets, go to every market, every ticket business.

In 2019, Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai was honored to receive the title of Meritorious Artist and the Third Class Labor Medal awarded by the President.
In 2021, he was chosen as director for the work "Chen thuoc doc" - the first drama of Vietnamese theater, written by author Vu Dinh Long in 1921.
At the 5th International Experimental Theater Festival in 2022, Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai received a Gold Medal for the play " Den Ban Dang" (work by the late writer Nguyen Huy Thiep), a Silver Medal for the play "Edip Sang Vua".
