Quach Mai Thy cries while practicing singing "Gánh mẹ" (Carrying Mother) preparing for the music night "Ơn nghĩa sinh thành" (Gratitude for Birth)

Remaking "Gánh mẹ" with a duet

Participating in "Ơn nghĩa sinh thành 2026", Quach Mai Thy chose to perform two songs about motherhood, "Khóc mẹ" (Crying for Mother) and "Gánh mẹ" (Carrying Mother).

In which, "Carrying Mother" was especially made a new effort by the female singer when performing for the first time in the form of a male-female duet with her husband, singer Tuan Ngoc.

According to Quach Mai Thy, "Gánh mẹ" is originally a familiar song to the audience through solo versions. However, at "Ơn nghĩa sinh thành 2026", the female singer wants to bring a completely new, surprising gift with different emotions to the audience.

Quach Mai Thy believes that this combination not only creates a new color for the song but also expresses the feelings of children, whether boys or girls, who all want to be filial and grateful to their parents.

For Quach Mai Thy, preparing for the performance "Gánh mẹ" is also a journey full of emotions.

The female singer said that during practice, every time the song reached its climax, she often could not hold back her tears.

When practicing and singing this song, I couldn't hold back my emotions. Every time the climax comes, I shed tears," Quach Mai Thy confided.

The female singer hopes that when standing on stage, she can better control her emotions so as not to burst into tears, avoiding affecting the melody of the performance.

However, she also hopes that the audience can feel the true emotions that the two artists send through each line of the song.

Not only "Carrying Mother", Quach Mai Thy also performed "Crying Mother" - a song she accepted to sing immediately after receiving a share from the author.

According to the female singer, "Crying for Mother" is a special song because the song touches the homesickness of those who have lost their mothers, and at the same time reminds those who still have mothers to cherish each moment being with their parents more.

I hope the work will bring the most genuine emotions about motherhood, about the unforgettable image of a mother. For those who still have mothers, I also hope everyone will cherish more the moments and time they are still with their mothers," Quach Mai Thy said.

Every day is an occasion to show filial piety

Sharing about the meaning of Vu Lan filial piety, Quach Mai Thy said that this is not only an opportunity to remember the deceased but also a time for each person to express their gratitude to their parents, grandparents and those who gave birth to and raised them.

Vu Lan filial piety is a symbolic day for Vietnamese people to remember their ancestors, to show gratitude to their parents, both those who have passed away and those who are still present beside them," the female singer shared.

However, for female artists, filial piety should not only be expressed in one day.

Vu Lan Day is just a more special occasion to remember grandparents and ancestors. For me personally, every day is always Vu Lan Day of filial piety. Every moment, every moment is an opportunity for us to express gratitude to our parents," Quach Mai Thy expressed.

Through two performances at the music night "Gratitude for Birth 2026", Quach Mai Thy hopes that the story of motherhood will not only stop at emotions on stage, but also become a reminder for everyone to know how to love and cherish parents when they still have the opportunity.
