The star of this movie is Amy Adams, the actress who was nominated for 5 Oscars. Not as innocent as Giselle in "Enchanted", not as fragile as Susan in "Noctural Animals", this time in the 8 -episode series produced by HBO, Amy Adams plays Camille Preaker in the journey to return to the small town to learn about the abduction and kill the two girls. When arranging psychological pieces from the past, she realized that herself was too similar to the victims.
Camille Preaker, a female reporter for the St. Petersburg newspaper. Louis Chronicle, who was sent by the editor-in-chief to his hometown of Wind gap to write an article about the story of two girls who went missing, and one of them died, suspected of being murdered. This business trip brought Camille back to meet her mother - Adora (Patricia Clarkson), a person who was too dependent, stepfather - Alan Crellin (Henry Czerny) and her sister and mother, father - Amma (Eliza scanlen), and reminded her of the painful memories of her childhood, including the death of her younger sister, Marian (Lulu Wilson), when they were both female students.
tormented by the past, seeking escape through alcohol, Camille, along with detectives Richard Willis (Chris Messina) and Chief Inspector Vickery (Matt Craven), tried to find the truth about a recently missing girl.
"Things" is set in Los Angeles, Northern California, and around the Atlanta area. Author Gillian Flynn shared: "Things" is my first child, my first novel. I write it every night, on weekends and holidays without any hope it can be published. Because I felt I had to bring this girl to reality, for me, the work has a sacred position. Bringing the wording to the screen is a strange and exciting thing, making the work a new thing but still respecting the reader's understanding. That was very interesting and somewhat scary.
Director Jean-Marc Vallee said: Im curious about why we can find beauty in something we dont think of. Why can sometimes darkness be attractive and bring a sense of comfort. This is what happened to me when I read Gillian's work. I was caught up in Camille's mind. I was secretly taken advantage of by this character.
I have never met, never seen or heard of anyone like this before. I was drawn to her obsession with every word, the way she used them to assert herself, to heal and to hurt, and the way she described the world, the way she talked about herself, her wounds and her imperfections. It is a unique, very rustic, very dark voice, but also very honest and vulnerable. That is the beauty of Camille Preaker and Amy Adams.
The creator Marti Noxon commented: When I first read this book, I told myself, Having to meet Gillian personal, she is unusual, just like me.
This is a story that mentions a part of women's lives that we rarely mention - the desire to hurt themselves and each other. And I feel Camille is a representative of many women who constantly suppress the pain they have caused to themselves throughout their lives, and how to avoid the root problems that cause pain, in many ways.
That is something I personally feel similar to, and seeing the character with shortcomings but also being extremely brave on this path to find truth is part of the reason why this story still stays in my mind for a long time after reading, it is that obsession that makes me want to turn this story into a long-running film".
