Traffic accident in Germany, victim is Vietnamese
German media, Henssenschau reported on July 6 (local time), the Toyota Corolla Verso accident collided with 2 electric scooters, killing 2 victims, a 23-year-old twin brother. The remaining victim was a 27-year-old friend.
Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper quoted local police as saying that the suspect initially fled the scene but later confessed to driving at high speed and inhalingnitrous oxide while driving.
The victim of the traffic accident was a Vietnamese person. The unfortunate twin couple Nguyen Duy Quang and Nguyen Quang Minh - one died on the spot, the other died in the hospital. The two brothers studied abroad in Hamburg (Germany) for 2 years, studying dental hygiene.
On July 18, the funeral of two overseas Vietnamese students was held in Germany.
The remaining injured person in the accident in Germany was Hoang Trung Hieu, known as TikToker Pop.
The situation of TikToker Bop after the accident
Hoang Trung Hieu graduated from university with a major in experimental Medicine in Ho Chi Minh City, went to Germany to study abroad in 2022 and is currently a nurse at a nursing home. Hieu's daily job is to take care of the elderly, injured, and disabled.
On the social network TikTok, Hieu has the nickname Bop (bobbotbienn). He is quite famous for his TikTok account opened in 2021, with more than 161,000 followers and 8.8 million likes.
On his personal page, Hieu often shares positive and optimistic messages about life. His videos are simple, sometimes lip-synced with song lyrics, sometimes messages about love and social relationships. He always shows the image of a bright smile in the clips, inspiring a cheerful life.
Currently, Bop's TikTok account is still open. The most recent post was on July 4, just 2 days before the accident.
On the TikTok page, Hieu still often posts clips with his girlfriend Khanh Van. The two were supported by the community in their long-distance love journey.
According to Khanh Van, she said that in the accident, Hieu was hit hard from the back, dragging him for more than 150 meters.
Hieu had a brain surgery last Monday and was transferred to a brain hospital for further treatment. After surgery, he showed signs of high fever, anemia, received a blood transfusion and had reduced his fever.
As of July 21, Hieu is still in a coma, suffering from a serious traumatic brain injury, with many wounds on his body and having to amputate part of his leg that was run over by a vehicle.
Khanh Van shared a post calling for help from the community in Hieu's treatment journey after the accident. The mother of the male TikToker went to Germany to take care of her son.
Because the cost of living and treatment in Germany is expensive, the family is facing many difficulties because Hieu's recovery journey is still very long. According to Khanh Van, the family launched the campaign "Reviving dreams - Overcoming with Hieu" on the GoFundMe fundraising page on July 20.
As of the afternoon of July 23 (Vietnam time), the Hieu Support Fund has received more than 168,000 Euros (more than 197,000 USD, equivalent to nearly 5.1 billion VND).
