When she fell ill in December 2024, actress Zhao Lusi announced a temporary hiatus from activities, and the film project "The Lover" in which she starred with Peng Guanying also stopped filming.
After about a month of rest and recovery, Zhao Lusi returned to advertising activities and attended events of brands she collaborated with as a model. The actress also appeared on a reality show.
However, over the past 8 months, Zhao Lusi has not received any new film projects after "The Lover". Up to now, although her health has recovered, there is no information about the beauty born in 1998 discussing a new project.
This led to rumors that Zhao Lusi was cold-hearted by producers because of her illness and continuously made controversial statements and moves in the past, causing public dissatisfaction.
In a recent livestream, Zhao Lusi answered this question. She said that she still received new scripts but she refused to participate in projects, because she felt her health condition was not guaranteed and she did not have a truly suitable role.
"After I got sick, I actually still received quite a lot of scripts to come to. It's not like there are no films for me. But I think, with my current situation, I won't be able to film well. In the end, the person being criticized will be me.
So right now, if there is no suitable script or I really like it, I think it's okay not to act in a film," the actress shared.
Zhao Lusi added: People ask me if I continue filming. Regarding this, we will just wait and see what the results are. If I could still film, of course I would film. Or not, that depends. I can't say for sure."
Zhao Lusi is having a conflict with her management company Galaxy Cool Entertainment. On August 2, she accused the company of oppressing and causing financial and health damage to the female artist.
When Zhao Lusi fell ill, the company promised to take responsibility, but in the end, the actress herself had to pay for the damages of the canceled advertising contracts and the film stopped filming.
Zhao Lusi accused the company of withdrawing 2.05 million yuan from her office without discussing in advance, tricking her accountant into signing the profit sharing documents. Zhao Lusi's private studio management rights were also revoked by the company.
Zhao Lusi has proposed to terminate the contract but Galaxy Cool avoided and refused to resolve it.
In response, Galaxy Cool stated that they did not violate the contract or the law, always fulfilled their obligations to the artist and listened to the artist's opinions.
The company warns Zhao Lusi not to post vague information, which can easily lead to false speculation.
