“Hitman” was released to audiences in 2020.
The film revolves around Jun (Kwon Sang Woo) - a former spy who becomes a dual target of both the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and terrorists after posting a webtoon (online comic) based on his experiences.
Part 2 of the film continues the story of Jun - who is now framed by the NIS as the culprit, after a terrorist attack similar to the same case in his webtoon.
Returning after 5 years, director Choi Won Sub's action comedy is revealed to bring audiences a cinematic experience with more action on a larger scale than the first part.
Meanwhile, Kwon Sang Woo said he was happy to continue playing the main role in part 2 of the film.
According to the Korean actor, there are some details in the works of Stephen Chow - an actor and director he admires - that were also included in the movie "Hitman".
“Looking back at the works I’ve done in the past, I think I basically like comedy films. I also like Stephen Chow’s films. There are a lot of those elements in “Hitman,” so the filming environment is very interesting. I think the reason I exercise and take care of myself is because I want to do films like this.”
Jung Joon Ho - who plays Cheon Deok Gyu, the person who trained Jun to become a legendary assassin - also said that the "chemistry" between the actors during filming was great.
“On set, there are young actors helping the senior actors improvise, and there are also young actors happily challenging the senior actors’ acting. I hope that when the film is released, it will bring a lot of laughter and help everyone start the new year with excitement.”
“Hitman 2” hits theaters in South Korea on January 22, 2025.
According to the media, if the storytelling of part 1 is kept, the film will not be purely fictional for entertainment but will contain many prominent issues in society.
Along with that, the charming acting of Kwon Sang Woo and Lee Yi Kyung promises to bring many tear-jerking situations to viewers.
